Watermelon Tourmaline Jewelry
Watermelon Tourmaline is a very rare gem with a completely natural bi color formation and can display an almost unlimited combination of colors within the same gemstone.
True Watermelon Tourmaline resembles a cross section slice of Watermelon, with a hot pink Rubellite Tourmaline core surrounded by a shell of pale green Tourmaline representing the rind and an outer shell of dark green Tourmaline representing the skin and is usually cut into a thin slice rather than a faceted ring stone. The most valuable Watermelon Tourmaline slices have a rich deep pink center surrounded by green intact rings and with a triangular or uniform shape, or, those with a highly unusual color combination or rare pattern.
Watermelon Tourmaline slice jewelry provides an excellent choice for those who prefer something unique and highly collectible as no two pieces can ever be identical and high quality Watermelon Tourmaline jewelry will always increase in value over time as fine Watermelon Tourmaline becomes increasingly scarce.
Watermelon Tourmaline is mined in Maine and in Brazil and our exclusive collection of contemporary jewelry includes both Maine Watermelon Tourmaline jewelry and Brazilian Watermelon Tourmaline jewelry.
Bi Color Tourmaline Jewelry
Tourmaline gems with two or more colors within the same gem, which are not true Watermelon Tourmalines, are known as bi-color Tourmalines (regardless of how many colors are present within the same gem beyond two) however these rare gems are also commonly mistakenly referred to as Watermelon Tourmaline gems.
Bi colored Tourmaline is a rare and collectible gemstone and when cut into a briolette, ring stone or bead (which is very rarely done) the most valuable bi-colored Tourmalines are those with a clear division of color and at least two distinct colors within the same gem, with higher value being placed on those with multiple colors.
